What to know before you book the CIA.

Take the parts in any order

The IIA does not set an order. Each part is booked, sat and scored on its own, so each has its own mock exam and its own report.

Part 3 is now about running the function

Since the 2025 syllabus, Part 3 covers managing internal audit: the audit plan, resources, quality and follow-up. IT, cyber security and basic finance moved to Part 2, where you need to recognize them when planning an engagement.

Aim to pass each part the first time

Results take up to three weeks, with no score at the test centre. A resit means paying the exam fee again and waiting at least 30 days, so it pays to walk in ready.

Original questions only

Every question is written for the 2025 syllabus and the 2024 Global Internal Audit Standards. We never use recalled exam content, which The IIA treats as misconduct.
